This picture of St. Madeleine Sophie is at our school, Carrollton, in Miami. Sophie is the Foundress of the Socity of the Sacred Heart in France in 1800. She was the first Superior General and governed the Society until her death in 1865. She saw the Society established in many countries and her wisdom kept the many houses united in the midst of the difficulties that were many. Now the Society of the Sacred Heart is spread over the world in 43 or 44 countries. Anyway, Sophie is a good friend to have in heaven and she often seems very present to me.
We will have all the Religious of the Sacred Heart in the Miami area here for Mass and dinner tonight.
I guess I shall just add my favorite quote from Sophie:
:Be humble, be simple, and bring joy to others.
