Silence, where we encounter God

As I am beginning a silent retreat, I want to share with you some of the wonderful quotes taken from The Problem of Silence  by Robert Cardinal Sarah. On p.21 hs tells us: "We encounter God only in the eternal silence in which he abides." 

He has just finished telling us that we must enter into silence for God himself dwells in a great silence.

The picture today helps us to enter into that silence where we encounter God.
