Now that Mother's Day is celebrated with such a sense of nostalgia since I lost my own mother more than twenty-five years ago, I find myself still turning to my mother but also to Mary, who has also always been my mother and who continues to be so in my daily life. I find myself turning to her each night when I turn off my light and look to the bookshelf where I have one of those small statues of Our Lady that glows in the dark. It is just a comfort to look there and know that Mary is watching over me.
