Today we stay with Jesus as He prepares for the "Last Supper" before His death and resurrection.
He knows He is going to suffer and die; He knows that His disciples are weak and need Him and so Jesus leaves us the wonderful gift of Himself in the Eucharist. We have all missed having Mass this year and especially have missed being able to receive the Eucharist. On this day, we stay with Jesus, thanking Him for leaving His Eucharistic Presence to help us.
I can imagine what mixed feelings Jesus had as they gathered for this supper in an upper room. Jesus began by washing the feet of His friends. He showed them how to serve with love. Then, He gave them Himself in the Eucharist. We should never stop thanking for this gift.
